Hi All,

I wanted to introduce myself briefly.  I'm the primary technical person behind Tune Society (coordinating the web and database work).  We're always looking for new features that will benefit Tune Society artists and those who use their music.

In this regard, we have slowly been rolling out little features here and there but we really want to hear your ideas!  Use your creative muscle and give us a push!

One idea that we have on the burner, probably to roll in the next couple months is a Showcase feature.  We have heard expressed interest by artists to see how their music is being used.  Well, we will be providing user run Showcases for those who have licensed Tune Society music to be able to share their work with the community!

But, we want your ideas!  This is a user-centric community and we need your input so that we can add the features you want.  So, please share!

I have a request.  Is there a way to customize the music box in a way that when you send the link to a client, it does not display the costs of the music?  I would like for my clients to be able to listen to the music samples, but not see how much each track costs.  Make sense?  Is that doable?

Simon,

Wow.  I can't believe I never thought of this.

Seriously.  I TOTALLY get where you're coming from on this.

This is yet ONE MORE reason for us to really look into the idea of being able to download a tune that has an audio watermark added to it.  This way you could email the songs to your client so that he could listen to them and approve what he likes with out seeing how much the tunes are.

Call me and we may be able to figure out a work around for your situation (at least for the near future).

Simon,

To finish my thought from the other post...I don't think we can do it with out showing the pricing.  Because someone could just jump on Tune Society and see all of the pricing.  But I think that having access to downloadable music files would help you in this situation, wouldn't it?

Vidano,

Yeah I hear ya.  I knew you'd get what I'm talking about though.

I know they can always just log in or log on themselves, but at least in the direct link the price would not right there.  I dont know.  I understand that could be complicated or just not the best workaround.

I do think the download a watermarked track could prove to be the best.  Perhaps that track could also be more lo-fi or something.  I dont' know.

Anyway, I'm just thinking about it as I'm going to be needing to send some samples to an upcoming client and the concern crossed my mind.

Here's another idea.  I  know you can view your past orders, but is there a simplier way to identify songs you have already purchased and downloaded?  Like just a list or a list with the links?  That could be useful.

ok. I guess I'm just full of ideas right now! :)

Why is there not a way to save your credit card information for future orders?  It seems like most other websites have that feature as an option.

Hi Simon,

I'll talk to Stephen about some options for sending clients links currently.  I think it's going to take some work to get up a watermark version and there are some other legal issues with that that we'll have to address, so I don't see that happening in the next few months anyway.  Sending clients links though, we can build out a special page for that that wouldn't need Tune Society branding (though tunesociety would be in the url) and that wouldn't have the prices of the songs.  I have another great idea about how to get around this but need to talk to the other TS staff before launching into it in a public forum.  If you don't hear from us more on this let me know because it is a great idea and would be possibly a better option than the watermark for this case anyway.

In regard to the past orders, that's easy and I'll add that in soon.  The next roll out will have some fixes and changes (one suggested by Chris Targia) and we need to talk about if we'll be ready from a site perspective for Showcases but that might be in there.

For keeping credit card information, that is something we're watching and evaluating whether it is worth it overall.  It is a bit more complicated technically, has higher fees associated with it, and does lend to more legal/security issues.  My hunch is that we will go this route down the road, but not yet.

Keep the feedback and feature suggestions coming Simon!  We love it!

Thanks Chris!

I'm with you on the generic page that we could send to clients where they could just hear the song, but the page isn't branded, etc.  That's what I had in mind when I first asked the question.  It wouldn't be a need all the time, but there are some cases where it would be helpful.  I think we're all on the same page there.  I do understand the obstacles with watermarked versions and in someways I don't really want watermarked versions at all.

I do love the idea about showcases and i hope you can implement that!

Thanks guys. It's exciting to be a part of Tune Society and watch it grow!

Another idea.  What about a volume control on the music player?

I'm trying to play back the track and listen to my content cut in Final Cut.  I've got the volume up in FC but the music is still too loud.  If I had seperate controls and could lower the volume of the track on TS, that would would be helpful.

Make sense?
