Born in rural south central Ohio, Bobby Bobnoxious (birth name: Nathan McGuire) took an interest in music at an early age. Well, musical instruments at lease. His first guitar was received for his 5th birthday. Though he doesn't remember playing it, photographic proof reveals ownership to be factual. His first drum set he got on Christmas, and did manage make noise with it until the Kick drum was punctured by a softball someone shouldn't have thrown in the house. The drum set was never played again. He would receive another acoustic guitar a few Christmases later and learn how to play the E major chord first.
In the fifth grade, his interest and engagement in music was sustained when he joined the fifth grade band, playing the snare drum. Though he did enjoy it, he found playing a single drum to be monotonous. Ever the wandering spirit (was is just a way of saying his attention span and focus happens to suck!), the following year he chose to pursue the alto saxophone as part of the sixth grade band. The switch brought new challenges which he enjoyed, but once the required songs no longer presented the challenge he thought he needed, he learned to play other pieces of music--mostly themes from blockbuster films of that day (i.e. Jurassic Park). Most of this learning was done by ear.
In jr. high school, music took a back seat to academics and athletics. No more school band and the acoustic guitar was near-abandoned.
During his formative years, he cultivated an enjoyment for most genres of music, which he would enlist depending on what mood he was in. His favorites, though, were the timeless alternative and grunge rock bands of the 1990s. CDs confiscated from him by his parents included Soundgarden and the Smashing Pumpkins, though he'd usually stumble on to the places these were hidden and re-claim them.
In college, he rekindled his relationship with the acoustic guitar and began playing it more and learning chords and chord patterns. Toward the end of his time in college, he took a chance and enrolled in a piano class. There'd always been a piano in the house with his mother being a player who'd been the regular pianist at her church in the sixth grade. Earlier efforts at piano lessons and sight reading music were short-lived. However after college, he decided he liked the piano and jumped at any opportunity to piano-fy pop songs.
Since 2012 he's been producing music, sticking with his two weapons of choice: guitar (acoustic AND electric) and the keys, though he's eager to get his hands on a clarinet, a trumpet, and another drum set.
